Parent pointer
The classic slip here is comma placement — children read “4,50,000” fine but write it as “45,0000”. Ask your child to read out loud any big number you see this week (petrol price total, news headline, cricket score sheet) — two minutes a day fixes it.

Why does the new book start with large numbers instead of integers?
Ganita Prakash builds number sense first — how big numbers work and how to estimate — before operations on negative numbers (that now comes in Part 2, “Operations with Integers”). It matches how children actually learn.
Indian or international comma system — which one should my child use?
Both are in the syllabus and both appear in exams. The rule: match the question. If it says “write in the Indian system”, use lakh/crore commas (4,50,000); international groups in threes (450,000). The video drills both.
