- Estimate first, compute second — so misplaced decimal points get caught

The superpower to build here is estimation-first: before computing 4.8 × 2.1, a strong student says “about 10”. Then a slipped decimal point (100.8? 1.008?) gets caught instantly. Make “roughly how much?” the first question of every homework problem this month.

How is this different from the Part 1 decimals chapter?
Part 1 (“A Peek Beyond the Point”) built place value and add/subtract. This chapter does the heavier operations — multiply and divide — which need that foundation. If those basics are shaky, watch the Part 1 video first; it’s linked below.
My child moves the decimal point the wrong way — any trick?
Replace the memorised “move left/right” with one question: should the answer be bigger or smaller? Multiplying by 10 makes things bigger, so the point moves to make a bigger number. Thinking beats memory here — the video drills it.
